The gentleman's father used to run a saw mill in the 1950's and this is some of the left overs passed down to his son and stored in a barn for many years. S.A. Mahogany. It's all flat sawn but... ![]() Look at that curl!!! ![]() I did not even notice the figure in the wood till I cleaned up the last 60 years of dust all over it. I figured I was buying enough wood for necks and blocks and linings to last me a nice long time but I'll cut this up for backs and sides. It's old Honduran so it should be stable enough right? |

![]() If you're interested in sharing, how much for a harp guitar top/back/side set? Three slices 8.75x44x.110" thick after scraping smooth, two slices 5x44x.080" after scraping. Or if it works out better, do four of those side slices and I'll make one with redwood and one with cedar top ![]() |

That is awesome, congrats! I wouldn't worry about it being flatsawn. You know what they say, ALWAYS use quarter sawn wood for guitars, unless it is pretty then it perfectly fine ![]() Oops, I mean: That wood is improperly cut and too old to be used. Send it to me and I'll see to it that it gets properly disposed of. |

When I first seen it I thought it could be saw marks too but after cleaning it and wiping with a little alcohol it popped right out. The guy actually has more of it to but it's not all figured. I may have to go back and look at the rest of them real close. As of now Dennis, I'm hoarding it ![]() |

Beautiful ... As for stability .. your should send a large piece to "Wuds Wood Testing Facility" for analysis . |
